1st strand.
I was on holiday abroad during the Easter holidays , I realised my first strand art works are not as fully realised as I would like. Though I felt I did get a good start making some foil figures as test pieces. First smaller ones wrapping foil around my daughter, then with a doll I produced one with a thinner foil that did give a sense of what I was looking for. Though I realised I would need to use something thicker as the thin foil crumples easily and is fragile.
I made the second one using a large male mannequin. Making an empty hood and forming the foil around the torso. This held the shape well.
I made another life size test piece wrapping foil twice around a thinner female formed mannequin. I then used Sellotape to reinforce the form which made it stronger. I then cut up the side to release the form from the mannequin, the form of the body keeping quite well. I stapled this to the wall, the structure held well with one staple. I re sellotaped the cut , which left rips. At first it felt tatty, but then I liked the visual.
I had been planning to put the figures on stands, but now I would like to hang the figures with fishing line and place lights in so the light glows through the cracks and the hood of the figure.
When I took photos if gave a glowing blue light in the hood that almost look like a face.
